With the recent announcement of MDA(Media Development Authority) funding the development of PC game demos as part of the Invigorate scheme. I have decided to collaborate with an ex-colleague of mine to apply for this funding and develop our own PC casual game demo.
With 1 casual game title under my belt which seem to be garnering pretty good reviews. This will be a great opportunity for us to build on that foundation. So the weekend has been spent downloading all kinds of casual games and trying them out for a few minutes to an hour for “research” and reading up on the casual games market and trying to spot the next big trend in the casual game market.
But that does not mean that I am turning my back on mobile game development. Actually, my casual game design idea would be designed in mind so that it will provide a complementary gameplay experience when the game is ported over to the mobile phone(which is what I intend to do). But first, I have to survive casual game weekend this week by playing as many casual games as I can. Onward and forward, my trusty laptop.
Just remember to focus on the content of the game first then the context.
Then ask yourself the question, “Is this the type of game that casual gamer want to play?” Good luck!
Yup, you are absolutely correct on that. When my associate was churning out ideas, I told her that the key question to ask herself is “Is this the type of game that casual gamers play?”
